It was made in six languages.. Tamil, Malayalam, Telagu, Kannad, Hindi and in Shreelanka in Sinhali Language... but the most popular and that years box office hit was Äzaad which broke all the box office records and earned net profit of 1.40 cr to S.M. Shreemalu Naidu the producer and director of the movie. Dilip Kumar also won the best actor filmfare award for his role in Azaad that year. Dwarka Divech also was awarded with Best Cinematographer by Filmfare for this movie. In Indian Movie database Azaad is named as "Top Grossing film of the year and the biggest hindi film of the dacade".... What more.... the film was earlier given to "Naushadji" for music who refused to do the work in a weeks time and guided them to C. Ramchandra as he believed that C. Ramchandra can do equally great job in such short time.
Manjiri@Ketakihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07273237985521622024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2090676701125864139.post-67341317650102835002010-05-08T03:12:46.251-07:002010-05-08T03:12:46.251-07:00lovely blog u have here. most entertaining.

Refreshing to see both Dilip Kumar and Meena Kumari enjoy themselves on screen in both films.

http://www.upperstall.com/films/1960/kohinoorKaran Balihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05284103646817680892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2090676701125864139.post-28077794196931772212009-03-17T08:34:00.000-07:002009-03-17T08:34:00.000-07:00Shweta -- It is nice, for sure. I am afraid I had already lost my heart to Kohinoor, othwerwise I might like this better. And I am fond of the songs, In my opinion, there is no such thing as too many songs.

Dilip, or the director seemed to agree on the preference of profile, you rarely see the right one, as Beth pointed out, and now I am noticing it, too.antarrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17426370822672116904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2090676701125864139.post-61106048449480229632009-03-17T02:03:00.000-07:002009-03-17T02:03:00.000-07:00Aww I lurve this film - every fake stone, every si...Aww I lurve this film - every fake stone, every silly disguise and every crazy plot twist of it. Its the only time I've seen B/W Dilip do anything fun and Meena Kumari is so cute as the over-the-top-and-dumb heroine. It helps that the soundtrack is superb - the songs are rather plentiful but soooo good. I saw a Telugu version of it that featured N. T. Rama Rao, way back in my childhood and was amazed to find a Hindi version which (I think) is a remake.

Also, I think Dilip's left profile is certainly better than his right one!Bollyviewerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17270927806254662068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2090676701125864139.post-75323994668594085142009-03-16T17:48:00.000-07:002009-03-16T17:48:00.000-07:00This is definitely a movie I need to see- I've hea...This is definitely a movie I need to see- I've heard only good about it- besides- a happy Meena is rare enough to be a must.
